After successful completion of the 8 weeks course finished with a practicum week at University of Alberta, students will have credits towards their Grade 12 diploma and have 3 credits towards a degree at University of Alberta.

This comprehensive 8-week dual credit high school rehabilitation course offers students an in-depth understanding of physical and occupational therapy practices. Participants will engage in both theoretical lessons and practical applications, learning about patient assessment, therapeutic techniques, treatment planning, and rehabilitation modalities. The course aims to develop students’ skills in diagnosing and managing various musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular conditions. Students will also explore the ethical and legal considerations in rehabilitation services. Through hands-on experience and real-world scenarios, students will be prepared for careers in the health care field or further advanced studies. physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology disciplines. This study is part of a two-phase research project aimed at identifying any existing gaps in meeting the needs of students in Treaty 8.
